Kennesis Lake – Ontario

The Owner approached us for a design that would accommodate the very stringent planning required for this peninsula on a Haliburton lake.

The Owner’s vision was of a home that felt like a lodge — wood panelling, rough stone fireplace masonry, hemlock floors, and deep overhanging eaves. Working with the landscape, we developed a butterfly plan that incorporated the Living Room at the plan’s hub, with a kitchen wing to one side of it, and the Screened Porch, Master Suite and Office to the other side. The wings are angled symmetrically around the front entrance, which features a circular stone plaza.
