Barn renovation — Clearview Township
This century barn sits on the escarpment above Creemore and commands a panoramic view over the Mad River valley.
The original structure is post-and-beam, good in some parts, rotten in others where leakage had got inside. We were asked to repair the timber framing and to adapt the interior cathedral space into several levels for entertaining. Empty of any hay bales or tractors, the space is 3 stories high and the length of a hockey rink.
Our first intervention has been to cut in several large sliding doors, opening the interior to stunning views over the Purple Hills. Solid pine plank flooring is being restored, as well as the barn board siding.
